Stainless steel fasteners can, and often will, seize on themselves, making disassembly impossible. To prevent this, always lubricate stainless steel before assembly. any lubricant will help, but the anti-seize products work the best.

Similarly, by lubricating the threads of light bulbs you’ll make unscrewing them much easier. Use a thin layer of Dielectric grease on the threads before you screw in the light bulb. Dielectric grease is a non-conductive, waterproof, silicone-based lubricant designed to seal, lubricate, and insulate electrical connections. Its primary purpose is to protect electrical components from moisture, salt, dirt, and corrosion.

Pierson’s sells a wide assortment of stainless steel fasteners and anti-seize lubricant in our Hardware Department.  You can also find dielectric grease in our Electrical Department along with the right type of bulb, lamp or light fixture for your home.
